Niasha Fray, MA, MSPH is a proud native of North Carolina, FAMU Rattler, and holds graduate degrees in Clinical Psychology from Teacher’s College Columbia University as well as Health Behavior from UNC Gilling’s School of Global Public Health. Ms. Fray served as a dedicated leader of the Christian Faith Baptist Church HIV/AIDS Ministry in Raleigh, NC, for over ten years. She also serves as a Board member of a small but mighty black family foundation in Northeastern NC called the Gregory B. Davis Foundation. She is also serving as Board Member at First in Families, NC and inaugural chair of the FIFNC Equity Taskforce. In this same spirit of being a trailblazer, she also joined the NC Down Syndrome Alliance as their inaugural Black Families Community Liaison.
With over 20 years of experience bridging gaps between leading healthcare centers, and world-renowned research institutions, Niasha Fray has helped vulnerable communities to address some of the most devastating diseases and the most complex medical challenges of our time. Ms. Fray’s passion for promoting health equity in collaboration with organizations that hope to serve diverse populations to improve health policies and practices has been a hallmark of her career. She is known for expertly utilizing implementation and dissemination practices, social-behavioral research skills, community engagement, and public health proficiency to improve population health. Ms. Fray has held leadership positions at UNC-Chapel Hill, Duke Health, Duke University, IQVIA, and more.
Niasha Fray was also honored to co-author a Congressional Issue Brief on HIV in Black Women for Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day with the National Alliance of State and Territorial AIDS Directors. She has also been an invited panelist for Women and HIV at the 70th Presidential Advisory Council for HIV/AIDS Full Council Meeting. While at Duke, Niasha was also awarded the 2019 Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award due to the extraordinary nominations of her diverse community of colleagues across the country.
